Just last month, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary, DePuy Orthopaedics, announced that it was recalling two of the companys hip replacement systems. The DePuy hip replacement systems that were included in the recall were the ASR XL Acetabular System and the ASR Hip Resurfacing System. In addition to DePuy, Zimmers Durom Cup, Strykers Trident PSL, and Strykers Trident Hemispherical Acetabular Cup have also been recently recalled.
Obviously, this hip replacement recall has caused quite a bit of concern for patients that have these implants. So much so in fact, that many individuals from around the country have decided to retain the counsel of the firm Vanguard Law Partners. The firm intends to represent patients who would like to take action against DePuy and other manufacturers.
For those that are uncertain as to whether or not they possess one of the five recalled systems, an appointment with their physician should help to sort things out, as this information should be present in the patients medical records. However, proving that the device implanted is indeed faulty might be a different story. There are several signs that those concerned can keep a close watch for though. For instance, many people that have had their hip replacement fail have noted clicking or popping, swelling, loosening, pain that becomes constant, dislocation and fracture.
Of course, those noticing any of these signs should make an immediate call to their physician to seek medical advice and/or attention. Those who do have a faulty recalled device will be subject to corrective surgery in order to replace the device with one that is dependable. Though it is not the ideal solution, the truth is that there really is not much choice in the matter. In most instances, the replacement is not necessary until the signs begin to appear.
If you or one of your loved ones is experiencing any of the signs mentioned above, it is strongly suggested that you contact an experienced hip attorney. An attorney with experience in faulty medical devices is truly an asset to entire process of taking action against the manufacturer. They can collect the necessary evidence, file the paperwork, and ensure that you are kept updated at all times.
